Farmington Historical Society Foundation Presents:
A Revolution in Color: The World of John Singleton Copley
Thursday, February 27
5:30pm Social, 6:00pm Program
$25 Per Person (Complimentary for FHSF Donors)
The greatest of colonial painters, John Singleton Copley is renowned for his portraits of Paul Revere, John Adams, Mercy Otis Warren, and many other Revolutionary-era leaders. Copley led a life of great contrasts and divided loyalties in both America and Britain. Dr. Jane Kamensky, former Harvard professor and current President of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation—which owns and operates Monticello—explores the life of Copley in her prize-winning book A Revolution in Color: The World of John Singleton Copley. Dr. Kamensky, the author or co-author of seven books spanning four centuries of American history, examines the tumultuous age of the American Revolution as seen through the eyes of the Boston-born artist.
Reservations are allowed from 01/30/2025 12:00 AM to 02/27/2025 04:00 PM.
