Program Free for FHSF Donors | $25 for Non-Donors
2024 marks the bicentennial of Lafayette’s triumphal American tour when the last surviving Revolutionary War general visited every American state and inspired massive patriotic celebrations wherever he went. Dr. J. Jefferson Looney, the Daniel P. Jordan Editor of the Papers of Thomas Jefferson at Monticello, will discuss the process by which the definitive edition of the third president’s papers is being published, share insights into the friendship between Jefferson and Lafayette from their correspondence, and describe their touching reunion at Monticello and the formal ceremonies and dinner with which the Albemarle community greeted Lafayette.
Online reservation is not allowed.
